Julie: Artisans' Gallery, located on Madison Ave in New York City, was the first gallery devoted to handmade clothing as an art form. This phenomenon is also known as Wearable Art or Art to Wear (art-to-wear). We are proud to offer many of our one of a kind and studio art pieces online.

The gallery represents textile artists working in techniques such as silk painting, shibori resist dying, textural knitting, crochet and weaving, along with studio jewelers in the vanguard of formal excellence who work with both the traditional mediums of gold, silver and gemstones as well as avant-garde materials like found objects, plastic, paper and rubber. Each artist represented by the gallery uses his/her own innovations in design and process to create unique pieces that are personally expressive.

The gallery, owned by Julie Schafler Dale, is known for showcasing artists who create wearable pieces that also function as art, and that will intensify any wardrobe. Our handcrafted studio jewelry and unique accessories accent most outfits. They are, indeed, special works.

Julie: Artisans' Gallery concentrates on cutting edge designs that include wearable art clothing forms in sweaters, scarves, shawls, jackets, dresses, coats, gloves and tote bags using both traditional and atypical textile techniques. We also handle artisan jewelry – brooches, pins, earrings, bracelets, necklaces and rings -- that have been created through metalsmithing processes such as hammering, cold forging, casting, enameling, plating and stone-setting.
