SASJA SAPTENNO
Dutch artist/designer Saptenno experiments with common, "flexible" materials that she transforms into 3-dimensional necklaces and bracelets. She has explored Tyvek (an indestructible paper-like fabric used for insulation) and fleece, as well as bicycle inner tubes and rubber bands. A graduate in visual arts, textiles and fashion, she has written and lectured about her processes in many venues in The Netherlands, including the annual course for the Fries Museum in Leeuwarden. In 2003 Saptenno was nominated for Best Product Design by the Vormgeningsprijs Friesland. She has exhibited extensively in museums, galleries and public spaces throughout the country.
